Curved Modern Residence
A four-story residence shaped around a curved corner tower, with sweeping planted balconies and warm natural materials, developed from hand sketch to photorealistic render.

The idea
City houses are often rigid boxes. This design study asks how a home can feel softer and more generous while staying clearly modern. The residence is organized around a curved corner tower, with stacked balconies that sweep around the building like ribbons. Each level gains open views, daylight and a planted edge, so the house feels connected to light and greenery even in a dense setting.
The process
The design began as a hand-drawn elevation, where the proportions of the curves and the rhythm of the balconies were tested by hand. It was then modeled in SketchUp and 3ds Max, drawn up in AutoCAD and rendered in Corona. The material palette stays warm and calm: white render, natural timber slats and a travertine stone base, with planting woven into every balcony.
The result
Shown side by side, the sketch and the render tell the story of the project, from a single line on paper to a light-filled home. The curves soften the building’s presence on the street, while the greenery and timber give it a sense of calm, private luxury.
