Biophilic Atrium Interior

An interior concept built around a sky-lit indoor garden, where trees, a still pond, travertine and timber create a calm, light-filled home.

Biophilic Atrium Interior, Concept Design by Ar. Sumon Mia

The idea

This interior concept places a garden at the heart of the home. A double-height atrium under a glazed roof holds trees, ferns and a still pond, and the living spaces open directly onto it through timber-framed glass walls. The aim is a house where daylight, planting and water are part of everyday life rather than something seen only through a window.

The process

The study works with a calm, natural palette: pale travertine and textured plaster walls, oak floors and timber beams, linen-toned furniture and stone stepping paths across the water. The glazed roof lets sunlight fall through the leaves in shifting patterns, while galleries on the upper level look down into the garden. Low, sunken seating brings people close to the planting and the pond. The visuals were developed with AI-assisted tools to explore form, materials and atmosphere at concept stage.

The result

The images show a series of connected spaces arranged around the atrium, each with its own view of greenery and light. Soft shadows and natural textures give the interior a quiet, restful character. The concept shows how biophilic interior design can make a home feel calmer and more closely connected to nature.
